Gannabos

Gannabos is a stylishly furnished cottage, ideal for honeymoon couples, a romantic getaway or just a stayover when travelling long distances. Feather duvets, cotton linen, and soft luxurious towels are provided. It offers you guaranteed peacefulness and a well deserved break. No cell phone reception is available, but free Wi-Fi can be accessed.

PLEASE NOTE:
As owners of the Gannabos Quiver Tree Forest we have erected a fence to protect this conservation area for future generations. Access to the forest can be gained by contacting the owners and paying an entry fee. The forest will be open to the public during flower season with a R50/person entry fee which includes an informative brochure. Gannabos guests will have free 24 hour access to the forest. Anyone wishing to do night photography must be a guest at Gannabos unless we are fully booked, in which case, a night permit may be purchased from the owner for R250.

Please remember that as the quiver tree forest is situated on the farm, it is private property.The cottage is situated on the farm Gannabos, well known to photographers and nature lovers alike. The owners, Merwe and Nakkie van Wyk, are proud to share the beauty of their surroundings with you. Also to be found are some of the local residents and the actual boss, a Toy Pom named Goliath.A quick peek at the inside of the cottage shows you the stylish double cast iron bed. All basic kitchen necessities are available. You have the facilities to prepare a delicious breakfast in the privacy of the cottage. A two burner gas plate and bar fridge are provided as well. You do not need to do any dishes here, it is one of the many perks of visiting Gannabos.The private, one bedroom cottage or ‘rondawel’ has an en-suite bathroom with a shower. All kitchen utilities such as plates, glasses and cutlery are provided. Outside is a braai area, set up with a table and chairs enabling you to enjoy a Karoo sunset. You will be provided with wood, firelighters, a grill and braai tools. Homemade farm products such as rusks, a variety of jams and preserved products including quinces and green figs; as well as photo prints by Nakkie van Wyk, are available to purchase. Next to the cottage is a swimming pool for those hot summer days.Soak up the panoramic views of the surrounding landscape from the pool in the tranquil garden, while enjoying a peaceful braai.Next to the cottage is a huge palm tree that is covered with finch nests from August onwards. This natural phenomenon is spectacular to experience and a great opportunity for the keen bird watcher or photographer alike. Gannabos is a fully functioning working farm. You are sure to enjoy memorable experiences whilst visiting here. During the winter months you will be able to taste the sweetest of oranges cultivated on the farm.
